where: xx is the two letter ISO country abbreviation and yy is an abbreviation generally used within this country for this location. The reason for using the country and institution abbreviations is to facilitate identification of photos and to help organize what potentially could be tens of thousands of photographs from around the world.
For example, photographs from Boston College would start with US_BC since US is the ISO code for the United States and BC is a common abbreviation for Boston College.
